Protect Student Choice!
In July 2021, the Department for Education confirmed plans to replace this three-route model with a two-route model of A levels and T levels (a new suite of technical qualifications), where most young people pursue one of these qualifications at the age of 16. As a result, funding for the majority of BTEC qualifications will be removed.
Under the new T-Levels by design they include a work placement, this then reduces the available amount of time for students undertake core GCSEs such as Math's and English. Due to this, Colleges offering T-Levels are likely to have English and Math's GCSEs a course requirement. Ultimately, this will limit students pathways into university.
